Remember Our Heroes
Army Spc. Keith T. Buzinski, 26, of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Spc Buzinski was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La.; died April 7, 2011 in Logar province, Afghanistan of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire.
He had only recently returned to the region, having been on leave in Daytona Beach two weeks ago.
"He loved it. He felt like it was the one thing he was really a part of," Buzinski's sister Lauren said of her brother's Army enlistment. "The first time around, he really felt like that was his job."
The young man moved to Daytona Beach in 2004 to be near Lauren, who took him in before he enlisted, she said. Soon after he graduated from boot camp, Buzinski went on his first tour in the Middle East.
Lauren Buzinski said her family had been proud of the life Buzinski made for himself in the military.
"He was a troubled kid, and he found refuge in the Army," she said. "He wanted to have a good job and good benefits. He wanted to be something.
"He was a phenomenal person," she said, "and everyone looked up to him so much now. He really proved himself to be quite a man."
Sgt Buzinski's funeral service will be in Trenton, N.J., where he was born.
Army Spc. Keith T. Buzinski was killed in action on 4/7/11.
