Army Pfc. Gil I. Morales Del Valle

Remember Our Heroes

Army Pfc. Gil I. Morales Del Valle, 21, of Jacksonville, Fla.

Pfc. Del Valle was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La; died Aug. 3, 2011 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. Also killed was Pfc. Cody A. Baker.


Pfc Morales was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He moved from Humacao, Puerto Rico to Jacksonville with his mother, stepfather and sister when he was eight years old.

Pfc Morales graduated from Crossroads Academy in 2008. After graduation, he attended FCCJ studying Criminal Justice. He worked at Auntie Anns in Regency Mall as a shift manager.

He enlisted in the Army in February 2010, going through basic training at Fort Benning, GA. After basic training, he trained as a Sharpshooter at Fort Polk, LA. He deployed to Afghanistan in October of 2010

Pfc Morales loved his church, spending time with friends and family and playing computer games.

Pfc Morales will be laid to rest in Puerto Rico National Cemetery, Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Pfc Morales is survived by his mother and step father, Gladys and Renes; father, Gil; sister, Kiara; and longtime girlfriend, Narim Alim.

Army Pfc. Gil I. Morales Del Valle was killed in action on 8/03/11.
