Army Sgt. Christopher P. Soderlund

Remember Our Heroes

Army Sgt. Christopher P. Soderlund, 23, of Pineville, La.

Sgt Soderlund was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La.; died July 9, 2011 in Logar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with rocket-propelled grenade fire.


Sgt Soderlund joined the Army in March 2006. After training at Fort Benning, he was stationed at Fort Irwin, CA for a time, before arriving at Fort Polk in November 2007. He deployed to Afghanistan October last year. This was his second deployment, first one being deployed to Iraq in December 2007.

Sgt Soderlund was ambitious and energetic and had a great sense of humor. He loved to skateboard and work out and was into tattoos and drawing. He enjoyed cookouts with his paretns and fishing with his daughter. He and his wife were nearing their 5th year anniversary and had two children.

Sgt Soderlund is survived by his wife, Jessica and their children, Gabriel and Adrianne; mother and stepfather, Donna and Donald; father, Paul and sister Cassidy.

Army Sgt. Christopher P. Soderlund was killed in action on 7/9/11.
