Remember Our Heroes
Marine Cpl. Chad S. Wade, 22, of Bentonville, Ark.
Cpl. Wade was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died Dec. 1, 2010 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations.
Uncle says Fallen Marine Hero to Family and Country
I love his personality and I will miss his smile and I will miss his hugs," said John Gough, Wade's uncle. He is still trying to accept that his nephew is no longer with us.
"We were all hopeful that it was not true, hopefully it was a mistake, it's still not real," said Gough.
Gough said Chad just wasn't an American Hero, he was a hero to the entire family, especially his wife, mother and grandfather.
"When Chad was in it was like everything stopped, it was like the king had arrived," said Gough.
Being an only child Chad didn't have to take a second tour of duty in Afghanistan, but he wanted to. He couldn't leave his fellow Marines behind. What he liked most about deployment was teaching the children to read and write. He left a lasting impression.
Gough said Chad was one of the most loving, spirited people he has ever known. It may seem unusual for an uncle to look up to his nephew, but in this case it was true. "America's lost a great man but hopefully in everything he did, he stood for, hopefully we can learn a lesson from him," said Gough.
Chad's mother and wife have not been able to make any statements to the media regarding their loss or Cpl. Wade's death according to Gough.

I didn't know Chad personally but he was in my son's company (Echo) and I feel as though one of my own has been taken from me. Chad's mother has started a foundation that helps Marines get home before they are deployed. Not many know that it is up to the Marine to fund his own trip and not everyone can afford it. Check out her honor to Chad at www.wingsforourtroops.com.
Thank you for this tribute to my son. I didn't know about your blog until yesterday and I appreciate you and what you do very much. It means more than you might know. Take care and God bless you. Tami
