Army Maj. Thomas G. Bostick Jr., 37, of Llano, Texas
Maj. Bostick was assigned to 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy; died July 27, 2007 near Kamu, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small-arms fire during combat operations. Also killed was Staff Sgt. William R. Fritsche.
Major From Llano Killed In Afghanistan
Maj. Thomas Bostick Jr., 37, of Llano died Friday in Afghanistan after his unit came under fire, according to the Department of Defense.
He was company commander of B Troop 1-91 Cavalry, 173rd Airborne Brigade stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Bostick loved his military career and felt he was making a difference.
Bostick was born Dec. 8, 1969. He graduated Llano High school in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; two daughters, Jessica, 18, and Ashlie, 13; parents, Brenda and Jim Richardson of Llano, and Ann and Tommy Bostick Sr. of Midland; and grandparents Bob and Maudean Keeler of Lovington, N.M.
He also has a brother, Bobby Bostick, and wife Tammy, stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, but deployed in Iraq; half-sister, Shamaree Bostick of Midland; stepsisters, Sonya Richardson of Hobbs, N.M., Valorie Ruth of Weiser, Idaho, and stepbrother JW Richardson of Lubbock. He had many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Bostick will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia as a major, as he was posthumously promoted upon his death because of his honorable military service.
In lieu of flowers, a college scholarship fund for his daughters has been set up at First State Bank of Central Texas, 907 Ford St., Llano, Texas, 78643.

Tom was a friend and a great american. I first met Tom back in 1996 when we were assigned to the Ranger Training Brigade together. He was always ready to share his thoughts and friendship and totally won my loyalty and friendship while there. He and Hugh Roberts were good friends and I looked up to and respected both as professionals. The last time I saw Tom was in a hallway at BLDG 4 at Ft Benning when I was in OCS. It was exciting because I had just got back from Iraq and he was getting ready to go to the 173rd ABN and what surprised me was the fact that he skipped class to spend a little time with me and he took the time to catch up with one another. He was a large influence in my decision to go to OCS. I will miss him and keep his memory with me as long as I live. His family will remain in my prayers.

I met Tom when he was still enlisted. We served together at SOCCENT, MacDill AFB Florida. He was the smarter of the two I called the "Ranger Twins". Though I was in the end never allowed to go to jump school and retired as the only "leg" in the J2, Tom never let up on me about PT in preps for jump school. Even on the day of my retirement, Tom made me go out and we ran 5 miles that morning. The Ranger Twins will never be the same without you, and we miss you.
Bostic and I were roommates at Huachuca during the 96B10 class. We had some great times, great memories. I remember his 2nd day of being sqd leader, I was last out of the room and did a sweep. He had left a half eaten apple on his desk. I grabbed it tossed it on the way down to formation. Upon falling in I told him he left the apple there, you saw the "oh crap" look on his face. After loading on the buses I told him I got it. He was so thankful, funny thing is he returned the favor later in the course. I regret not keeping in touch. Of 14yrs service not a lot of soldiers made lasting impressions on me, Bostick is one that I have never forgotten. He was a great person, excellent soldier the world is less without him.
My thoughts of our limited time together brings laughter to my heart and sadness to my eyes. Sorry I wasnt there for ya man.
