Army Cpl. Marquis J. McCants, 23, of San Antonio

Cpl McCants was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died May 18, 2007 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using an improvised explosive device and small-arms fire. Also killed was Sgt 1st Class Scott J. Brown.

CPL Marquis J. McCants, US Army entered into rest May 18, 2007 in Iraq at the age of 23. He was born August 4, 1983 in Abilene, Texas to Savage & Belinda (Robbins) McCants.

Survivors include his wife, Andrea McCants; children, Azaria and Micah McCants, and Deja Martinez; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Savage H. McCants; brothers Savage McCants III, Isaiah McCants; sisters Patrice Williams, Lisa Basch, and Brandi McCants; mother-in-law, Patricia Patten & husband Derrick; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Army Cpl. Marquis J. McCants was killed in action on 5/18/07.
